Well, here is your answer. The model is quite simple actually. Developers create and design the software for their application and then take it to Apple to go through an approval process. Developers who publish their applications on the App Store will receive 70% of sales revenue, and will not have to pay any distribution costs for the application. To run an application on the iPhone, the application needs to be signed. This signed certificate is only granted by Apple after the developer has first developed the software through either the $99/year Standard package. Just getting your application approved and uploaded to the App Store is only one part of the equation, now you need to try to have consumers buy it. That is a lot easier said than done. With literally thousands of Apps already that do just about everything, developing a user friendly, mainstream application is not as easy as it sounds. But good luck, for if you do, you can start racking in the cash!
